Yoga Therapy
Private one-on-one yoga therapy is available in person in the West Palm Beach, Florida area, as well as anywhere in the world on-line virtually.
Yoga Therapy is not simply another style of yoga. It is a way to directly address health challenges such as structural pain, problems from chronic illness and/or emotional disturbances. Private yoga therapy is a wonderful way to bring yoga into your life. The International Association of Yoga Therapists defines Yoga Therapy as, “…the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application and teachings of yoga.”
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy assumes each person is unique and adapts and applies Yoga techniques to help you based on your needs, interests, and current condition. Through the one-on-one yoga therapy sessions, and through a personalized home practice, my goal is to enhance your health and well-being. Through regular practice, it will help you develop greater mindfulness, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase self-understanding, and facilitate healing at all levels of your being.
Yoga Therapy is “a growing appreciation of the fact that yoga practice is not simply a variety of techniques for self improvement, but is also a highly refined means of discovering that which, in all of us, needs NO improvement.” Sonia Nelson
How can Yoga Therapy help you?
Yoga Therapy is helpful for:
Structural conditions (such as back pain, hip pain, neck and shoulder pain, sciatica, sacrum dysfunction).
Physiological conditions (such as long covid, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, COPD, GERD, constipation, Crohn’s Disease, stroke, chronic pain, IBS).
Emotional conditions (such as depression, anxiety, panic, stress management, PTSD), and many more are helped by the varied techniques of yoga.
Spiritual deepening or exploration.
What techniques are used?
Many of the tools of yoga can be incorporated: physical postures, breath exercises, relaxation, meditation, sound, self-study, and lifestyle (such as diet, exercise, sleep, or stress management). And whatever tools we incorporate are tailored specifically to you and your needs. Because of the self-reflective nature of the work, discussion also becomes an integral part of our time together.
What do sessions look like?
Sessions are conducted on a one-on-one basis and held in Lake Worth Beach, Florida or on-line. They are tailored to meet your special needs and a personal practice is developed to assist you in working on your own. No special equipment is required. The first appointment is approximately 1.5 hours with subsequent visits lasting approximately 1 hour. Your first visit will include a consultation, as well as a beginning practice to take home.

These yoga practices tailored for me by a trusted, knowledgeable, perceptive teacher and therapist have helped me more than any other approach for dealing with pervasive anxiety; I feel healthier and happier than ever before.
I started yoga with K.O. after a brain injury and surgery to improve my balance. In addition to the physical benefits, there has been improvement in my cognitive processing and overall sense of well-being. Yoga is all encompassing.
When I first met with K.O. I was suffering from back pain, anxiety and several other symptoms. I had been to many doctors and even had back surgery. Much to my surprise, the first thing we did was sit down and discuss my life.
I contacted Kathy after a few years with increasing flare-ups of Crohn’s disease. Her insight empowered me to make the deep lifestyle changes needed. Three years later, I am completely symptom-free and have an appetite for life.
I was feeling very anxious and emotionally suppressed. Through yoga therapy with K.O., I learned how to nurture and honor my true self. It has brought me peace and better relationships.
I sought help from K.O. primarily for chronic daily headache and migraine. After a few months, my headaches were greatly reduced, and now, several years later, I seldom have a headache as long as I maintain my practice.
